The Firm

Who We Are

Janora Platforms (Pty) Ltd is a technology and energy group founded in Botswana. We engineer and operate critical digital systems — from cloud infrastructure and enterprise applications to cybersecurity solutions, data and managed technology services. Janora is partnered with a wide range of international OEMs to deliver reliable and efficient technology solutions across diverse industries.

JanoraLabs, our research and innovation arm, pursues technologies with the potential to fundamentally change how industries and societies operate. Our work spans artificial intelligence, robotics, blockchain, and sustainable energy, with an emphasis on applied research and the development of proprietary technologies.

Mission & Vision
Mission

To engineer and operate the digital systems Botswana's institutions depend on, to a standard that removes any argument for sending the work offshore.

Vision

A regional technology group whose platforms run quietly underneath the SADC economy — in banking, mining, government and telecoms — and whose research arm produces technology the region owns outright.

Approach

Architecture before code. Delivery staffed by our own engineers. Systems handed to production with the people who designed them still accountable for how they behave at three in the morning.

How We Build

Engineering practice is the product. These are the standards every Janora system is held to, whatever the sector or stack.

  1. 01DiscoveryTwo to four weeks mapping the estate, the constraints and the people who will own the system once we are gone. Nothing is built during this phase.
  2. 02ArchitectureA design review, a written architecture decision record and a delivery plan with named risks. If it cannot be drawn on one page, it is not ready to build.
  3. 03BuildIncremental delivery against a live environment from the first sprint. Observability, CI/CD and security scanning ship with the first release rather than the last.
  4. 04OperateHandover into managed service under agreed levels, run by the engineers who designed it. Most engagements do not end here — they continue.

Architecture First

Every engagement opens with a design review and a written architecture decision record. If a system cannot be drawn on one page, it is not ready to be built.

Infrastructure as Code

Environments are declarative and reproducible. No hand-built servers, no undocumented configuration, no environment that exists only in one person's memory.

Observability by Default

Logging, metrics and tracing ship with the first release, not after the first outage. If we cannot see it in production, we do not consider it delivered.

Security in the Pipeline

Dependency scanning, secrets management and least-privilege access are build-stage concerns. Security review is not a gate at the end of a project.
